What is 'CMS' and whats the best CMS | Good business ideas

Throughout my decades as an artist for both print and web methods, I have been asked many times what a CMS is, and what my opinion on the best CMS is. One of these concerns has a certain answer and clearly identified advantages. One is rather start to personal choices and wishes, but both are concerns that should be responded to before anyone in the present information age buys a website.

Simply put, a CMS is a Content Management System used in reference to internet sites that allow the customer to change the internet sites content without the need for selection understanding or devoted software. The degree to which the information can be modified deviates widely and a lot of organizations out there exist with their own Content Management System, offering different levels of customization. This is a very suitable alternative to the traditional system of having a website designed for you by a web developer, then paying them excessive amounts of money everytime you want to change an picture, upgrade your prices or add some news.

The advantages of having a CMS are ample and can help you achieve more with your website than you may formerly have thought out. Not only is it a affordable means of keeping your website up-to-date, but it actually helps to improve your serps and buyer as well. If your website has not been current for a few decades and the information is old and unrelated, search engines like The search engines will pick up on this and your website will list lower and be tougher to discover. Users also want to know that your articles are present and any information on your items, costs, information or offers is still appropriate.

There are a few elements you should discover out when seeking the right CMS for you and your enterprise. Everybody has different needs and objectives when it comes to internet sites so the best CMS for one organization may not be as excellent a fit for the next. These concerns should help you work out which web style organization and which CMS is most ideal for your needs.

What are the abilities of the CMS and how much am I really able to edit?

This is actually far more essential than most individuals recognize. Most individuals are alert to how essential a CMS is to the success of a website, but this is usually as far as the understanding goes. What many individuals do not recognize is that not all Articles Management Programs are the same, and the amount of customization deviates significantly from system to system. What might seem good sense to include as a standard editable feature to the consumer may actually appeal to extra expenses, so it is always essential to discover out exactly how much can be modified within your website. Can you add pages? Can you change and change the menu? Can you change the footer? Can you set the link name and subject of each page? Can you change the design? Is there an editable master website which decides the structure and style of every page? Can you add extra URLs to your site? Do you need to know any selection to create major changes to the site? If you do know some HTML or CSS, can this be added to site? The more you have treating the better, because everything else that you do not have treating will more than likely appeal to high expenses if you ever select to change them.

What CMS is being used, or is it a amazing system?

This may or may not be essential to your enterprise, but it can be excellent to know. There are a variety of free Content Management Systems available that many web style organizations use, such as WordPress and Joomla ! as well as shut amazing techniques designed particularly for some web style organizations, their lovers and their shops. With a well known free CMS, in most cases you will be able to coordinator your website wherever you like and should you select to swap web coordinator suppliers, you will be able to quite easily with little help from a web designer to assist the move. With amazing techniques, internet sites must be put with the organization who operates the computer as no other serves have the functionality to use that particular information. When this may sound complicated, it does not really have a large impact on your website as once you look for the right web style organization for your organization, you should not need to change organizations anyway. A excellent web design organization using a amazing system will offer rewards and bonus deals to create it worth your while to use their system and their web coordinator.

Can I add apps to the website like forms, video clips or picture exhibits and will these cost extra?

One of the advantages of a CMS website is that in general you do have the option to add extra programs to your website without having to know how to application them. Factors like lists, video players or exhibits can be excellent enhancements, but sometimes these can appeal to more expenses. Open resource CMS internet sites and some of the better amazing techniques are also appropriate with third celebration programs designed by developers and this can significantly increase the abilities of your website at little or no expense. The more available programs the better, as this raises the value of your investment, and if you have complete treating the customization of these programs without wanting to application or code, then you have hit on a success.

Is there a limit to how many web pages I can have and will extra pages cost extra?

No one wants to be limited to a set variety of internet sites but the regrettable truth is that many organizations have set website restrictions with extra expenses to add extra internet sites. Larger internet sites with genuine internet sites and content do list better on search engines so having no website constraints can be a very useful thing. The functionality to change the list to work with the extra internet sites is also very essential.

    What e-Commerce is available?

If you are considering selling items through your website, you should know what sort of e-Commerce is available through the website. Will the website be able to include with the best payment gateways? Will you have complete cart capabilities and invoicing? Entire presented searching golf trolleys can possibly add thousands to your website even though basic shopping cart can cost next to nothing. Make sure you know exactly what you need out of a searching cart software before getting your website designed or this could come as a unpleasant impact.

Are the internet sites Display, HTML/CSS or both?

There are advantages to both types of internet sites and you should look at this fairly before discovering a web designer. With excellent Display CMS suppliers, you will undoubtably have the best level of mobility and customization, with the functionality to change everything, right down to elements of the style itself. You will also have much more communication for your website visitors. The issue with this being that unless you are alert to how to save your pictures and content particularly for web, Display internet sites can fill reduced than HTML-based internet sites. Some Display CMS internet sites are also not SEO helpful, so create sure that if you select to go with a Display CMS, it is one which instantly makes the information in HTML as well so that your articles can be considered by anyone without Display set up, search engines and individuals on mobile mobile phone devices. A website using a CMS like WordPress uses HTML and CSS (Cascading Style Sheets) which requires selection understanding in order to change structure and style. You can add and change text, pictures and internet sites as well as add third celebration programs, however it is a lot more restricted and much of the real customization will need to be done by your web creator or designer. Many low-end WordPress developers just change pre-existing layouts to add your company logo, giving you a website which looks like a inexpensive blog, so if you go down this path create sure you select a reliable web style organization.

Are the internet sites SEO friendly?

There are a few elements to make sure of when knowing whether your website will be appropriate with Look for Website Optimization. Is the information going to be legible by search engines? Simply Flash-based content will not be read by search engines and must always have a HTML content to make sure your website will be retrieveable. Can you set the website links? Are you able to set meta information, points as well as the website and website titles? All of this results in how well your web pr on search engines and will be essential if you are planning on rank well on The search engines.

Are the internet generic templates or custom designed?

No one wants a website that looks like inexpensive trash, but if you pay $200 for a website, this is what you will get. It takes a little while to style and create a website from the begining and the only way that a $200 website is going to be successful for the creator is for them to have used a design and merely changed the company brand name and colors to suit your organization. Of course, for anyone just starting out, a design website is better than no website at all but you can actually go and get a design website on a CMS for free, so why pay someone else to do it?

Can I swap my present website over on to a CMS?

If you have a website that you are happy with already, but want to be able to change it yourself, it may be possible to improve the website on a Content Management System. Some parts may be transferrable, but some may not be appropriate with the individual system. It is essential to make sure your preferred web style organization has taken a chance to view all present internet sites and content to create sure everything you want can be moved or re-created using these systems.

In terms of the best CMS out there, as I have proven above, I actually do not feel there to be 1 CMS which is different as being ideal for every situation. I prefer to assess the changeable needs and from there select a ideal CMS. It is rather like saying ?what is the best TV show?? or ?which car is the best?; without situational factors it is just an start finished question. Hopefully, this guide will help you to determine on which web style organization is right for you.

This Week In The Sony Honami Leak Watch: A FCC Filing And More Leaked Photos

sony honamiThe Sony Honami is quickly becoming the new most-leaked smartphone before its official announcement since the LG G2, but today?s news suggests it might actually be coming sooner than we expected. The news in question is a FCC filing spotted by Tech Kiddy, which suggests that the information in the filing should remain confidential till the 30th of September before ?formal market launch?. I don?t speak FCC, but this very much suggests that the Sony Honami could be seeing the light of day as early as the end of September or early October.

    Sony honami

Next on the list of leaks is a number of leaked pictures from Gadget Helpline which poses the new Honami next to its predecessor, the Xperia Z. Although they have the same screen-size, the 5-inch Honami is slightly bigger, though slightly thinner than the Xperia Z, which might concern some people who think the 5-inch barrier is as big as they?ll go.

    sony honami

With all these leaks and what look to be almost production-ready samples of the Honami just waltzing around, you?d think Sony would have an announcement to make very soon, but as Sony has been handling their announcements quite well post-breakfast, we can only assume they know what they?re doing.

Do you think the Sony Honami will really be released at the end of September? And what are your thoughts on the device itself. Share your thoughts with us in the comments.

Flossie: Tropical storm weakens en route to Hawaii

HONOLULU (AP) ? Weather officials say Tropical Storm Flossie is weakening as it slowly moves westward across the Pacific toward Hawaii, but it's is still expected to bring heavy rains and winds up to 60 mph when it reaches the state late Sunday night.

The National Weather Service said midday Sunday that Flossie could bring the possibility of flash flooding, mudslides, tornadoes and waterspouts.

The service issued a tropical storm warning for Oahu, Hawaii's most populous island with the city of Honolulu, to go along with previous warnings for the Big Island, Maui, Molokai and Lanai. The warning means the storm represents a threat to life and property.

The service also issued a tropical storm watch for Kauai and Niihau, a less severe notice, asking people to make a plan and pay attention to see if things get worse.

Officials warned people to cancel beach trips, finish necessary storm preparations and evacuate if asked by local officials.

State officials on Saturday closed trails and campgrounds on the Big Island, and warned people to avoid forest areas until Flossie clears.

"Hikers, campers or hunters should avoid trails, streams and back-country areas under these conditions," said William Aila Jr., chairman of the Department of Land and Natural Resources.

It's not immediately clear which island faces the most danger. The Big Island is the easternmost island in the archipelago, and likely the first in Flossie's path. Flossie's center was expected to pass near the Big Island and Maui on Monday morning and then south of Oahu several hours later.

The storm could drop up to 15 inches of rain to windward areas of Maui and Hawaii counties, and 6 to 10 inches in other areas, forecasters said. Up to a foot of rain could fall on windward Oahu and 4 to 8 inches in central and leeward areas. Kauai may see 2 to 4 inches of rain, with up to 6 inches on windward slopes.

Despite the system weakening, the current forecast keeps Flossie as a tropical storm through Wednesday.

Train's Pat Monahan makes bid to join TODAY

    Toyota Concert Series

If Grammy-winning band Train ever decides to pull into its final station, singer Pat Monahan says he's got plans for a second career.

"My goal is that one day, you'll say 'why don't you just stay,' and I'll join you guys every morning," he told TODAY's Matt Lauer and Savannah Guthrie when the band came to play on the plaza Friday. "I've got my own podcast. I'm just trying to get into your world."

The band played under a gloomy sky to cheering fans, blasting through four songs: "Soul Sister," "Bruises" (which featured a duet with country star Ashley Monroe), "Drive By" and "50 Ways to Say Goodbye."

They are currently on their "Mermaids of Alcatraz" tour, and Monahan noted it has taken them to all kinds of concerts: "Tomorrow we're in Connecticut to do a barbecue, and then we do a show in Boston," he chuckled. "It's really fun."

Perhaps he's preparing for a "where in the world is Pat Monahan" segment when he joins the TODAY anchors next time.

IRS employees union: Please don?t make us enroll in Obamacare

The union that represents IRS employees is urging its members to write to their congressmen to help get the union out of Obamacare.

?I am a federal employee and one of your constituents. I am very concerned about legislation that has been introduced by Congressman Dave Camp to push federal employees out of the Federal Employees Health Benefits Program (FEHBP) and into the insurance exchanges established under the Affordable Care Act (ACA),? according to a form letter drafted by leaders of the National Treasury Employees Union (NTEU), which represents IRS employees.

NTEU members currently get health coverage through FEHBP, which represents federal employees, but Republican House Ways and Means chairman and Michigan Republican Rep. Dave Camp seeks to obliterate that program and push legislation that would put federal employees into Obamacare exchanges.

?If the ObamaCare exchanges are good enough for the hardworking Americans and small businesses the law claims to help, then they should be good enough for the president, vice president, Congress, and federal employees,? Camp?s spokesperson said, making clear that Camp?s move has political motives.

?Camp has long believed every American ought to be exempt from the [Obamacare] law, which is why he supports full repeal,? Camp?s spokesperson also said.

    NTEU is not happy.

?H.R. 1780 would put federal employees in a special class where they would be prohibited from receiving health insurance through their employer. It would treat federal employees differently from state and local government employees and most employees of large private sector companies who receive health insurance benefits through their employer. The primary purpose of the Affordable Care Act was to provide a marketplace for the sale and purchase of health insurance for those who do not have such coverage ? not to take coverage away from employees who already receive it through their employers,? the letter reads.

?I work hard and am proud of the services that I provide to your constituents every day.? One of the main benefits I receive as a federal employee is the ability to purchase health insurance coverage through the FEHBP with an employer contribution towards those benefits. Please let me know your views on this legislation. I look forward to hearing back from you,? the letter concludes.

NTEU recently made news by preventing acting IRS commissioner Danny Werfel from fully canceling taxpayer-funded employee bonuses this year as he promised, citing the union?s labor contract with the IRS.

Rob Lowe delivers big as JFK in 'Killing Kennedy'

    TV

Rob Lowe and Ginnifer Goodwin play President John F. Kennedy and Jackie Kennedy in "Killing Kennedy."

    NGC / National Geographic Channel

President John F. Kennedy (Rob Lowe) and Jackie (Ginnifer Goodwin) share a moment in the White House in the upcoming "Killing Kennedy."

Rob Lowe is no stranger to playing politics. Remember White House communications director Sam Seaborn on "The West Wing?"

Recently, Lowe's been portraying slightly smaller fish and beloved Chris Traeger on "Parks and Recreation," the city manager with the big public servant's heart.

Now, the 49-year-old actor has taken on his personal idol, President John F. Kennedy Jr. in the upcoming National Geographic Channel movie "Killing Kennedy." Based on Bill O'Reilly's bestseller of the same title, the movie follows President Kennedy and his wife, Jackie (Ginnifer Goodwin), as they prepare to announce his candidacy for presidency while tracking and humanizing the man who would eventually kill him, Lee Harvey Oswald (William Rothhaar) and his Russian wife, Marina (Michelle Trachtenberg). Directed by Nelson McCormick ("The West Wing"), the film examines the events that led both men to Dallas, Texas, on that fateful day in November 1963.

But how does an actor portray a historic figure who has been played by countless other actors? Lowe, who appeared at the Television Critics Association's summer press tour in Beverly Hills Wednesday, spoke of the difference between inhabiting the president as opposed to impersonating him.

"I'm not Darrell Hammond from 'SNL,' " said Lowe, who was nominated for an Emmy for his role on "The West Wing." If you want a guy to imitate him, I'm not him." But Lowe knew he had to master one aspect: the voice.

"He had two voices. The voice we all know ? 'Come to Berlin!' " Lowe said in Kennedy's recognizable Boston accent. "Then he had the way he spoke in private. The Kennedy stutter step, if you will. His stammer. That?s what you don?t see a lot of. I tried to bring that."

He succeeded. In clips shown to TV critics, Lowe offers a goosebumps-worthy portrayal of a man who was killed five months before the actor was born. Lowe said he grew up aware of the political tensions in the country and has been fascinated with Kennedy himself since he was in the first grade. Still, with everything he'd read about the man he idolized, Lowe said he did learn new things by working on the movie.

"I always wondered why he didn't have a more happening Don Draper pocket-square thing going on," Lowe said. "Dude, you're the president, get somebody to make you look tight! What I realized is that he used reading glasses, though he was rarely photographed in them. He kept the glasses in his his pocket and he had a nervous tick where he would take them out and put them back in ... and he'd push the pocket square inside."

The movie will air in November, timed to the 50th anniversary of Kennedy's assassination.

Texas attorney general campaigns from wheelchair

HOUSTON (AP) ? The stage at a Houston honky-tonk has a wheelchair ramp. At another rally, Greg Abbott's aides lay plywood boards on the ground to make a smooth path over wet grass. Other stops have no speaking platform, making it hard for standing crowds to see the candidate at all.

It's another day on the campaign trail for Abbott, the longtime Texas attorney general who is paralyzed from the waist down, as he tells voters his personal and political story from a wheelchair in his bid to succeed Gov. Rick Perry.

"We've got a nice alleyway now," a staff member says as Abbott prepares to roll through a receiving line of supporters.

Abbott, 55, lost use of both legs in 1984 after a tree crashed onto him while jogging. Almost three decades later, he is the early favorite to replace Perry, who will not seek another term next year.

If Abbott wins, he would become the nation's first elected governor in a wheelchair since 1982, when George Wallace won his final term in Alabama.

His only challenger so far derides him as the "anointed one" of Texas Republicans. But that prestige comes with a strange reality: Some voters are still unaware of Abbott's personal history and disability, despite the fact that he's been the state's top law-enforcement official for a decade.

"I was shocked a little bit. You see him on Fox News and different people," said Charlcie Penny, whose son-in-law is Republican strategist Mike Toomey, Perry's onetime chief of staff and former college roommate.

To get better acquainted with supporters, Abbott told and retold the story of the accident this month during a 10-city tour across Texas that drew crowds of Republicans, many reinvigorated by a fresh face after 14 years of Perry, the state's longest-serving governor.

Abbott was an ambitious 26-year-old law student in Houston when he took a break from his studies and went for a jog to clear his mind. In the middle of the run, a 75-foot oak tree crushed him with the crack of splintering wood that sounded like an explosion. It's unclear why the tree fell, apart from speculation that it may have been weakened by Hurricane Alicia a year earlier.

"Texans believe in overcoming obstacles and rising above challenges," Abbott said. "I want to be a representative for that hope and opportunity for everyone ? a visible, tangible sign that it doesn't matter what challenges we face, both individually and as a state, we can rise above those challenges."

Abbott lives openly with his disability. His first video in the run-up to his long-expected candidacy was a nearly five-minute piece about the accident narrated by Fred Thompson, the former U.S. senator and star of "Law & Order."

Daniel Hodge, Abbott's first assistant attorney general who has worked with him for a decade, acknowledged that campaigning with a candidate in a wheelchair requires "more logistical thought."

"Most stages don't have ramps. Most stages have stairs," he said.

After her husband's accident, Cecilia Abbott feared the worst. The young newlyweds had moved to the big city only a month earlier. Greg Abbott had a job lined up at a law firm and was taking his bar exam in a week. Their adult lives were about to start. Cecilia called it "the big dream."

"Almost immediately, I felt like, 'Well, that's all gone," she said.

Four days later, doctors installed two steel rods into Abbott's back. The former athlete who ran track in high school needed a year for rehabilitation. Their landlord widened the bathroom doors in their apartment and installed a ramp.

On the campaign trail, applause reliably greets his go-to line: Unlike politicians who say they have a spine of steel, Abbott literally has one.

Abbott sued the property owner of the tree and collected millions, but has never revealed the full settlement. Democrats have accused Abbott of hypocrisy by helping make civil lawsuits increasingly difficult to file and win in Texas. Abbott says someone rendered disabled as he was could still sue under the same circumstances today.

During a recent campaign stop, Penny and 100 other supporters struggled to see him speak without a platform at a hardware store in an East Texas logging town where Abbott spent part of his childhood.

Two of the supporters, who had spoken knowledgably about Abbott's politics while awaiting the rally, didn't know he used a wheelchair until minutes before the speech.

Abbott has reason to be confident. He has a mighty $23 million war chest and a record that makes conservatives swoon.

He has sued the Obama administration 27 times, tried to save Republican-drawn voting maps in Texas that federal courts threw out as biased and will now defend the legality of new abortion restrictions that set off waves of protests this summer inside the state Capitol.

If he prevails in November 2014, his next home may need only minor adjustments to accommodate his wheelchair. After a fire gutted the Texas Governor's Mansion in 2008, the upstairs residence was made wheelchair-accessible for just about everything but using the stovetop.

The ranks of wheelchair-using politicians are small. Among the most prominent currently in office is Germany's finance minister, Wolfgang Schauble, who was paralyzed in 1990 after being shot three times in an assassination attempt.

Former Virginia Lt. Gov. John Hager, who contracted polio from his infant son's vaccine, was elected in 1998 following a "Rolling Across Virginia" campaign. Coincidentally, Hager's son Henry married Jenna Bush, daughter of former President George W. Bush, who as governor appointed Abbott to the Texas Supreme Court.

In Wichita Falls, in the front yard of Abbott's first home, he gave a speech heavy on his accident and recovery.

Neighbors and supporters gathered for grilled hamburgers and iced tea, and Abbott guessed what many were thinking.

"You're wondering," he said, "how slow was that guy jogging to get hit by a tree?'"

Who could have thought one wee royal baby could attract so many 'oohs' and 'aahs'

The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge display their newborn to the world outside St. Mary's hospital in London, and take questions from the world media.NBC News' Brian Williams reports.

By Chris Hampson, Director of International News, NBC News

    LONDON ? It?s been a long wait.

Even longer than the nine months it usually takes to have a baby.

Longer still if you?ve been standing for the last two weeks ? with not much to say but a lot of airtime to fill ? outside the London hospital that?s become the center of the attention for the whole world, apparently.

Ever since Kate and William got together, we?ve all secretly been wondering when they?d get around to the important business of Doing Their Duty.

There may have been a little romance and a lot of love happening along the way, but let?s not kid ourselves about what?s going on here.

It is, of course, about the joy of starting a family.? But it?s also about making sure the monarchy keeps going. It?s about producing an heir to the throne.

    JOHN STILLWELL/AFP/Getty Images

Prince William the Duke of Cambridge holds his new-born baby boy in front of the world's media outside the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London on July 23, 2013.

It?s been a major concern throughout Great Britain?s rather bloody history.? Henry VIII ? he of the six wives ? was said to be consumed with the belief that it was his duty to produce a male heir to secure the future of the Tudor dynasty. It was third time lucky for the old philanderer, though even then it didn?t go to plan.

So with the very welcome arrival of Prince Whatsisname of Cambridge, the future of the House of Windsor seems secure. There?s granddad, dad and now junior all standing by (well, not baby, not yet) to become His Majesty the King ? the first time we?ve had so many in the dugout? for more than 100 years.

    Nice work Kate.

As expected, for the most part Britons are ridiculously happy about the baby?s arrival.? Some are joyous because they love all things royal; some because they believe in the monarchy; and some because they just love babies and happy stories in the midst of all the misery that besets us these days.?

Prince Charles and Princess Diana brought one day old Prince William home from St. Mary's hospital June 22, 1982. NBC's Tom Brokaw and Rick Davis report.

There are others here who don?t care, and they are having a lean time of things right now because there is simply nowhere they can go to get away from the story.? It?s everywhere ? on every TV channel, in every paper, on every news website.? There is no hiding place for the curmudgeons.

The world, it seems, is captivated by this little nipper?s arrival. Not least (and this makes me happy as it helps pay the rent) our audience in the United States.

An American colleague told me this morning that her girlfriends had set up an email ?baby chain,? ?with everyone on it in a high state of excitement.? And, she said somewhat puzzled, ?they are normally so sensible!?

Well sense is out the window for now. As I write this I, a self-proclaimed royal doubter, am glued to my TV monitors. All four of them, all showing different channels, all pointing at the same door ? the exit to the Lindo Wing of St. Mary?s hospital, through which His Royal Diaper-Wearing Highness will emerge at any moment.

I suspect hundreds of thousands ? nay, millions ? around the world are doing the same thing. Who?d have thought one wee baby could attract so much attention.? This young chap surely gets into the Guinness Book of Records for causing the most ?Oohs? and ?Aahs? ever simultaneously-uttered across so many continents.

    Vickie Flores / Zuma Press

From restaurant decorations to dancing in the streets, check out how the world is celebrating the U.K.'s new royal heir.

    Nice work, Prince Not-Yet-Named.

My excuse?? I recently acquired the noble status of grandfather to a rather lovely baby girl. Now every day, when not dealing with the murder and mayhem that characterize my job as director of international news for NBC, I find myself ?oohing? and ?aahing? at video of the precious child doing all sorts off mind-blowing and never-before-done things like rolling over on her side, and rolling back again.

And that first smile? Believe me, it?s priceless.

So, monarchists or not, the world has cause to celebrate the arrival of the young prince, and all young human-kind who add to the sum of our joys. It?s because of them that life goes on.

It?s not often we news journalists get the chance to spread a little sunshine in the world. So make the most of it. The rains will come soon enough.

Joss Whedon talks comics, 'Avengers,' 'SHIELD'

SAN DIEGO (AP) ? Joss Whedon is the busiest man at Comic-Con.

The multihyphenate visionary talked television on Friday, film on Saturday and rounded out the four-day geek extravaganza meeting with fans and talking with reporters Sunday at the Dark Horse Comics booth about a new season of his Buffy the Vampire Slayer comic book series, the possibility of a "Serenity" title, and the dual realities of the Marvel film and television worlds.

After saying he can't give too many details about what's going on in all those projects, Whedon did give The Associated Press some insight in a quick interview as Comic-Con swirled around him and fans snapped his picture from afar.

AP: What can you tell us about the "Buffy the Vampire Slayer" story?

Whedon: I can't say much about what's going to happen. We're wrapping up Season 9 of "Buffy" and "Angel & Faith," and we've already sort of got a road map for Season 10, which I'm really excited about. Every season we get to come in and find and see a new aspect of what it's like for her and what it's like for anyone that's around her age that's going through life trying to figure it out. She's in her 20s, so she's trying to figure out what the hell she is. We've asked a lot of questions over the last two seasons. Season 10 I'm excited about because it has some very interesting answers for some of them. I can't really say. There's going to be a lot of back and forth between the comics ? not so much that if you only like one you won't get what's going on, because I hate that. But they do share a universe, all these characters, and their ability to sort of show up in each other's books is part of the huge fun. And the fact that Giles is now a young boy just makes me laugh and laugh.

AP: You have so much going on in film and TV, you could easily leave the comic books behind. Why do you keep doing them?

Whedon: Dark Horse came to me many years ago and said, "How do you feel about doing new stories with Buffy," and the show had been over for two or three years, and I realized I really really wanted to. Just writing those voices again, remembering that mission statement of let's tell the story of this girl and the trials of having power and trying to keep her friends together. It moves me. I love this medium. I've read comics my whole life. The idea that we got to create our own little comic book universe, it's very heady. I'm very grateful.

AP: Do you have plans to bring "Serenity" out as a comic book?

Whedon: That's the hope, but there's nothing official yet. It's patchy. "Buffy," the way it lent itself to a musical, lends itself to comic books in a very simple way. "Serenity," you've got to have the exact right sort of notion before I'll even let it go forward. Because it was taken away so fast, I was always leery of getting it wrong.

AP: You could revisit the war, take the characters into the future ...

Whedon: There's a lot you can do. I'm a little busy. I have some other stuff to do. But I have some ideas.

AP: Can the new "Marvel's Agents of SHIELD" television series thrive without the presence of already-known superheros from the Marvel universe?

Whedon: The thing is SHIELD itself is kind of an espionage book. They're all basically spies. Just the idea of these people's lives was fascinating in all its aspects, so if it was a situation where we had to have a superhero of the week, I would never have done the show. That would get old super fast. It's part of the Marvel collective, but there's also a lot more: The idea of dealing with not just the new technology, the alien stuff, and just regular people who are caught up in the wake of this world; the idea that "The Avengers" changed the game for the Marvel cinematic universe, which SHIELD is now a part of. The whole world suddenly found out there were superheros and aliens and all kinds of wonderful, terrible things, and that's going to have different repercussions for everybody. So there's a lot of different ways to approach every episode."

AP: Samuel L. Jackson told us yesterday he can't believe he's not involved in the new TV series as "SHIELD" Director Nick Fury. Do you see a role for him in the show?

Whedon: We would love to have Sam in the house. If we could work it out, we'd do it in a heartbeat. He's Sam. What are we, new? But we also have the movies and we have TV and we need to make sure there's some crossover, but not so much that people go, "Well, I don't need to see that movie. I saw it on TV." If we do that (Marvel Studios President) Kevin Feige is going to come after me with a pitchfork.

AP: You brought Agent Coulson back to life for the TV series after his apparent death in "The Avengers." Is it possible he'll return for the film's sequel as well?

Whedon: He could. Right now it's not something I'm pursuing because I have so much going on in "Avengers" 2. Finding out that Coulson is alive would be an entire B story. And I already have too much movie. That's better than the other thing.

(AP) ? What is the most valuable fruit crop produced in the Peach State?

This is not a trick question, but you may want to pause a second before answering.

    Ready? It's the blueberry.

Georgia is famous as a major producer of the peach, the fuzzy succulent orange fruit whose image appears on state license plates, "welcome to Georgia" billboards and on road signs. When driving in the capital city of Atlanta, you can pass the corner of Peachtree Street and Peachtree Center Avenue, just one block from West Peachtree Street.

There's just one problem: Blueberries are Georgia's most lucrative fruit crop, by far.

In a little-noticed development, the value of blueberry production in Georgia beat the peach crop in 2005 ? and the gap has grown even bigger since then, according to U.S. Department of Agriculture surveys.

Blueberries generated an estimated $94 million for Georgia growers in 2012, meaning the blueberry crop was more than three times as valuable as the nearly $30 million peach crop.

"It's surprising around the country how many people don't realize Georgia grows blueberries," said Joe Cornelius, chairman of the Georgia Blueberry Commission and a farmer who grows about 170 acres of the crop. He refuses to gloat about surpassing his fellow peach farmers. "I don't foresee Georgia changing to the blueberry state."

Analysts and growers say a combination of supply-and-demand economics coupled with a good growing environment propelled blueberries from a tiny crop to a profitable niche that dwarfs the famed peach.

Blueberries used to make up a relatively small percentage of the state's fruit crop. But major blueberry producers, particularly in Michigan, were searching for ways to get berries on the supermarket shelves earlier in the year. They signed deals with growers in Georgia since the state starts harvesting its berries in April, ahead of other producers except Florida and California, said Scott NeSmith, a horticulturist at the University of Georgia who studies blueberries.

Other climate factors help, too. While blueberry-killing frosts are possible in Georgia, they are not frequent.

Celebrated by physicians and nutritionists for their antioxidant qualities, blueberries have grown greatly in demand among health-conscious consumers. Farmers say it greatly expanded the public's appetite for the berry.

Average prices have jumped from 48 cents a pound in 1993 to $1.34 in 2012, and the growth was among one of the main factors prompting farmers to plant larger and larger numbers of blueberry bushes.

It only takes three or four years for the bushes to reach full production. Since prices hit a peak in 2007, many of the new blueberry fields planted by farmers seeking lucrative prices are now entering full production. And as supply has increased, prices have decreased.

"We're probably nearing the peak, I feel," said Bradley Vickers, 28, a blueberry farmer from rural Nashville, Ga. "I hope it continues to be profitable for my sake and everyone else's."

Another reason blueberries have proliferated to such a degree is that Georgia farmers are searching for alternatives to traditional Southern row crops such as tobacco and timber. Tobacco production has trailed off as Americans smoke less, and the timber industry took a big hit when the Great Recession slowed home building.

Vickers is one of those farmers. As of now, he still makes more money from tobacco, and sometimes cotton and peanuts. But he thinks blueberries probably have better long-term prospects than tobacco.

"If they begin to go down ?and tobacco is probably one of those things ? I have something to replace that, in case we need it," he said.

Georgia is not the biggest U.S. peach producer, and is regularly beat by California and neighboring South Carolina. Its reputation for peaches was always one part reality and one part marketing.

The Civil War left the Southern economy in ruins and ended slavery, which meant it was no longer possible for white farmers to produce cotton and other labor-intensive cash crops with cheap slave labor.

One alternative was peaches. Samuel Rumph, a 19th century grower in Georgia, was a major innovator, commercializing a tasty and robust variety called the Elberta, named for his wife. Perhaps more important, he developed a refrigerated rail car, making it possible to ship Georgia peaches to larger markets in Boston, Philadelphia and New York. As a result, Northern customers started associating Georgia with peaches.

"He had a great product. He didn't have a way to get it to market," said Will McGehee, a fifth-generation peach grower and the marketing director for the Georgia Peach Council. "And the refrigerated rail car was the answer. And so finally you were able to connect demand and supply."
