Chilling footage of an Indiana school bus being hit by a tornado, smashing its windows and hurling it across the street and into the side of a building, has been released.
A female teacher can be heard telling the students there is a tornado in the distance and moments later she yells "everybody get to the middle of the bus" before the students exit.
The images, captured in Henryville on March 2 but only recently obtained, show the windows on the bus shatter about three minutes after 11 students evacuated the stricken vehicle.
Only the audio portion of the video, which includes the children, was released by the West Clark Community Schools, citing privacy concerns.
After the students got off the bus and the windows were smashed the vehicle, which weighs over 16 tons, was pushed into a car parked at Henryville High School.
The bus was then swept up again and carried across the road where it smashed through the wall of a diner.
No one in the restaurant was injured.
