There?s still no word on the pricing yet, but that isn?t stopping Microsoft from unleashing its first advertisement for the Surface tablet (video embedded below). This came after the Surface twitter account went live just a couple of days ago, as well as a Windows 8 commercial that debuted in the U.S. on October 14. According to Paul Thurrott of Windows Supersite fame, Microsoft is budgeting US$400 million for the Surface tablet campaign alone.
The ARM-based, Windows RT-running Surface RT tablet is slated to go on sale starting October 26, the same day as the general availability of Windows 8. It?s 9.3mm thick, weighs 676 grams, has a 10.6-inch screen, and comes in either 32GB or 64GB storage capacity. The Intel-based, Windows 8-running Surface Pro tablet (with slightly different specs) is expected to arrive three months later.
Last Friday, pre-orders for the OS as well as Windows 8 PCs and devices from OEMs like Acer, ASUS, Dell, HP, Samsung, and Sony in the U.S. have officially begun.
